The Great Escape

The turkey heard the dinner talk,
Of gravy boats and knives that stalk.
He fluffed up his feathers—not today!—
And tip-toed out the barnyard way.
With stealthy struts and nerves of steel,
He dodged the fate of being a meal.
Now humans dine on beans and pie…
While he sips cider on the sly.
A toast to freedom, proud and plucky—
May every turkey be this lucky!
